Last year I purchased a PC exclusively for being a nerd and playing these here vidya games. All in all I love the PC, does everything I want it to on the HARDWARE side of things. The most aggravating thing lies completely on Windows 8's shoulders. This morning I go to turn my computer back on and during the welcome screen it freezes. No big deal restart and I should be back in business the normal consumer would think. WRONG! It freezes 10 - 15 more times and sweet Windows 8 doesn't have a way of booting into safemode without accessing windows....Which i can't do because it freezes upon start up. Well the geniuses at work thought of everything and said hey, when the operating system is failing we will make it fix itself with this sweet Automatic Repair function that will prompt you on Start Up when shit doesn't seem to be going your way, well that feature has never worked for me.... After a few automatic repair failures windows will ask you if you want to refresh and reset the settings to default, ALSO DOESN'T WORK FOR ME. Alas I am restoring my computer for the 2nd time thanks to this goddam start up freeze. Fuck you Windows 8 you make me want to set myself on fire. Avoid this piece of shit OS at all costs.

I've used Windows 8 PRO on my HP Laptop for a year without issues like this. Super strange!

Finally finished the install after many freezes and crashes, Windows 8 couldn't finish installing with my USB mouse and Keyboard connected, i had to disconnect them and use my old mouse to finish the update. It was my last ditch effort, onto updates and re-installs.

I was wondering about the new windows 8 OS and compatibility with gaming as well as the general stability of the operating system.
Interesting feedback about the freezing. My usual response to a new windows is to not trust it. The sound drivers took a dump after XP, and now that windows 7 is generally pretty stable for me now, for over 2 years... I am very reticent to try windows 8.

I am gonna have to reformat eventually to make room on my HD, I run an ubuntu partition as well, that I completely stopped using. Not sure if I will install 7 or 8 after.

8 when it is operational I find to not be terrible, but my rogue freezes sometimes at start up which require me to re-install windows are somewhat troubling, If you do go to 8 tread carefully as it is a headache that I still haven't completely cured.

my advice, if your not using a tablet, dont use windows 8.

Microsoft forced their tablet OS on computers and it just throws in useless features and annoying flaws with no real benefit.
