*SALUTES*,

I just want to share a little about my experience in the clan in the past 5 months i've joined. Since the beginning, I felt like there's two different clans in Confed : 1. the teamspeak users and 2. the others.

I've installed teamspeak and used it a couple times, but since i'm not the biggest "talker" and also cause my first language is french, it hasn't been a very satisfying experience. It was hard for me to understand what everyone were saying and even harder to answer in real time, so it felt kind of off. No matter how many events I participated, I've always fell like i was in "the others".

To be clear, my goal is not to blame anyone here. I admit i could try harder to use teamspeak and maybe feel more part of Confed. I'm just sharing my point of view and hope that maybe it could change some things to make this clan even better. Maybe some other members have noticed that and want to create more unity in the clan.

I'll finish by saying a big thanks to everyone working hard to make Confed a great clan!

*SALUTES*

I can understand where you are coming from and firstly we don't want anyone to feel unwelcome. I am an english speaker however I am from Australia so my divide is the time divide! It is handy being on Teamspeak but there are people who just use the chat function as well which is good because SC2 chat disconnects and reconnects when you play games you don't have a log.
There is always going to be difficulties with different languages so from your perspective is there anyway we could make the experience better? Maybe if we tried to recruit a few more French speakers? I'm not too sure. I personally would love everyone to use teamspeak but also encourage people to post on the forums as much as possible and in the sc2 chat.

I also think there are other ways to look at this, perhaps if we are approaching more French (or other language speakers) when we runs streams in the future (we have big plans for an upcoming stream) we might be able to have a french cast aswell?

I'm all for trying to bring the clan together if there are any divides because I love this clan and the people here are great.

I agree with you completely about the two different clan experiences. However, speaking with one another creates a much more powerful bond than chatting ever could.

With those members who don't like to talk, I'd say get on and listen. As far as the language barrier, perhaps listening to more English would help you and others that have different native languages. Although, I wouldn't know, I can only speak English.

I happen to agree with you completely. Team speak is great for clan meetings, and clan wars. However i will be directing umc officers too start chatting in the community channel more. We must remember team speak isnt free and not everyone feels comfortable or is able to use it. Don't feel bad for feeling this way, you are not the only one who feels that the forums, and in game chat are under utilized.

Teamspeak is free Jdamn, at least the version I have was free, I'm not sure how recently it went from pay to free based though.

Crunchy pays a monthly fee for the server, and it charges by the slot. So if everyone used it the server costs would go up

I deff understand how you feel. And Jdman previously addressed to the clan that he wanted us to boost activity in the community chat. You have a good point though, Weiser. TS is used for administrative purposes like meetings and clan wars, but yea, we could always use more activity in the channel. We've got plenty of members, we just may need to use the b.net interface more, which is what I prefer to use over TS unless there's a meeting or something important.

Anyway, thanks for pointing it out Weiser, your view is deffinately kept in mind, and I'll help out with the issue.

When you're involved in helping lead the clan, sometimes you don't have the time to game cuz you gotta be doing other things like talking to people, doing stuff on the website, forums, etc. so thats why it seems divided. Several people who help lead the clan ONLY have time to help out, and don't have time to game, that's why TS seems to be a diff group. It's just that we can't discuss clan matters in the community chat, but we'll work on a way to increase the unity on ConFed and keep us all on the same page.
