| I was roughly in 5th grade when I got my first electronic device to play with. It was an iPod Touch 2nd Generation. At the time it had been my life. I would search in the App Store for hours and download whatever seemed entertaining and fun. It was summer vacation when I one day downloaded an app called "Galaxy Empires", It was probably the first MMO game I'd ever played. Eventually I would join an alliance; primarily for the purpose of not getting killed by them. The leader of the clan would frequently talk to other players in the global chat about an amazing game called "Starcraft". As time past I became closer with the leader of the clan and would find out he was about the same age as myself. He ended up getting me into the game Starcraft. He was platinum league at the time; and he seemed to me like the best Starcraft player in existence. I would get on Starcraft as much as I could; which at the time was twice a week. I'd play 2v2s with my friend as much as I could; and constantly build 10/10 pylons... Never learning a single build.
Eventually I would get tired of Starcraft, and would become entertained by the game Minecraft. During 7th and 8th grade a school friend and I would eventually persuade our parents to rent a Minecraft server for us. We had fun for the few months the server had been up. We met dozens of new people and got to embellish our power over others.
I went to a strict, religious middle school; and in 8th grade as everyone was being accepted into specialized high schools; I was struggling with passing every class that year.
When I'd finally go off to a high school; I would end up being placed into a ICT class for all of 9th grade. The classes were much easier, and I would easily get 90s+ in each class. I got into the hobby of programming, and would make small silly applications & scripts. When I did get stumped on solving a programming issue; I'd scroll with my mouse to the bottom right part of the computer screen. To find the game Starcraft. I would then start to play Starcraft as frequently as I could. Playing primarily arcade games. Though in 10th grade I got into the game League of Legends and Starcraft was left sitting there at the bottom right part of my computer screen; untouched and left with dozens of balance updates required to play. Though my time in LoL was limited as I never bothered to learn how to play any other hero than Aatrox or Master Yi. My ridiculous family schedule also meant that I would be unable to play with my school friends on our team league often... In 11th grade after having my fill of LoL and realizing that it wasn't the game for me. I got back into Starcraft. This time I began to play team games. Primarily 2v2s with random people. I eventually met someone named ARSNZ. He was a Terran player like myself, and was shitty at the game, just like me... We were the perfect team. We'd stay up till 4AM on school nights Skyping each other, cheesing our way to 2v2 Platinum league.
Eventually we'd form our own clan with just the 2 of us. Slowly adding on new players into the clan. Eventually meeting multiple other 2v2 team players. Though one day my 2v2 team partner ARSNZ didn't get on Starcraft. Neither did he respond to my Skype messages nor my texts. I would end up leaving the clan with another friend of mine that had been in the clan with us. He ended up joining a new clan called "The Confederation". Though I had still been hurting on my missing Starcraft 2 friend - I rejected his invitation to the clan multiple times. Eventually I'd accept his invitation. Being a silver league scrub who got to silver in 5 games by making solely MMM in every matchup. The clan had a large multitude of different league'd players. Particularly; the clan had Platinums, Diamonds, Masters. I was amazed that so many people in those higher ranks even existed. So I began my quest to eventually get Gold league; after whining for help in the clan's community chat - a random barcode player stated he'd help coach me. Less than a month and a half later; with much help from this clan I'd go from a Silver leaguer to Platinum. The same league the person was that got me into Starcraft...
And that is how, & why I play Starcraft & am in this clan. Kappa.
