| Happy Holidays!
I hope that everyone has been enjoying the winter weather that normally accompanies the holiday season. The State of The Clan is meant to be an Address to all Clan members containing important information, updates, forward thinking, etc. The Confederation has been very busy with Events and CTL, so It's been a very long time since I've had the opportunity to write one of these and I'm excited to share some neat information with all of you!
General Clan/Community
Everyone in ConFed is familiar by now with these two words, "winter slowdown". It has been talked about numerous times over the course of the past year. But do you personally know what it is and why it occurs?
The "winter slowdown" is normally the period between Mid November - February 1st where players are opting to spend time with their Family and Friends as opposed to being on Starcraft 2. This happens across almost all online games and communities. The usual result of this on ConFed is a dimished active player base. EX: Less people in Community Chat, TeamSpeak, Forums, Events, etc. This is a natural period and serves as a break for a lot of players; and that is completely fine. Family comes before games. So don't be alarmed if some days are not bustling as opposed to other days.
However, with that said; this year I think we need to approach things differently and hit it head on. We need to take this "winter slowdown" and send it back the way it came. The way I intend for this to happen, is to really push recruiting, Clan Wars, and planned Clan Events with Rewards (Cash, gaming gear, etc). There will still be a ton of players playing Starcraft 2 and ConFed wants them. For that to happen, we need to give them a reason to get interested.
That is one of the most important things right now is keeping up with Recruiting and Events. Each is just as important as the other. Without recruits we have no one to participate in Events..but with no Events lined up, who wants to join? A week without Clan Events is a week wasted is what I say. When you come to our Community channel I want you to be able to look at the Events tab and see something that's fun for you.
I know it sounds ambitious, that's because it is! We've always slowed down Events and took on a more relaxed approach during the winter and let our member counts go down. Then we spend all spring and summer getting them back up just to do it all over again. Check out our TeamSpeak server on a Monday in the middle of December. Now, what was that about the "Winter Slowdown"? ConFed is the place to be. We have years of work and progress put into moving ConFed forward done by many different people. We also have a fantastic High Command and JCOS Team. This will be easy!
----- High Command
High Command continues to strive to provide one of the best experiences to the amazing group of players that make up ConFed (You).
Vice President StarTaledBOB is currently managing the Clan's Chobo Team League (CTL) roster and performance (We're in the playoffs!). When CTL comes to a close, StarTaledBob will be directing his organizational skills to the Keeper department. Any questions regarding CTL should be directed Bob.
Domestic Advisor Zmic has been working on a new Awards System for the Clan. Zmic has made Awards much easier to issue now that we're using a system similar to that of promotions. Any Rank Ensign+ has the power to submit an Award(s) to be issued. The Awards page has also been updated with revised information. It's suggested that you take the time to read the new requirements. Please see Zmic or your Branch Commander if you have questions.
Security Advisor Remo's Automatic Rosters Page for the Clan has proven to be of much use. ConFed has had no trouble keeping it's roster of players organized and structured since this implementation. Remo is continuing to write code for the website to improve features across the board. Remo also assists with TeamSpeak and Clan Channel moderation.
Foreign Advisor _________. You'll notice there is a blank field. That's because The Confederation currently does not have a Foreign Advisor. The spot is open and we are looking!
The Foreign Advisor deals with affairs in regards to other Clans on Battle.net. Scheduling Clan Wars is top of the list when it comes to priorities of this Rank. ConFed needs 1 dedicated person to be in charge of scheduling Clan Wars for the Keeper division of ConFed. This includes finding Clans interested in Clan Wars, taking Clan War Requests, Scheduling the Event, and assist in other Keeper areas as needed. The Foreign Advisor we pick will need to have exceptional communication skills, great organizational skills, and good attitude. If you think you might be interested please speak with High Command. ----- United Military Command
I only have good things to say about the UMC. The United Military Command was in a good position when GiggleSmirk was promoted to Fleet Admiral and GiggleSmirk continues it's progress onward!
First, realize that the UMC Consists of about 80% of the Clan. Yeah that's probably you reading this! Did you know that there is an entire Ranking structure inside of UMC part the Clan? All with their neat requirements and duties, etc. You should get more involved in your Branch! Check into the Ranks, see what they're about.
While we are looking at ways to make lower Enlisted Ranks more important, there has been a rise in the number people being interested in their promotions. Be sure to read the Internal Ops > Ranks Page to view/understand how the UMC Ranks work and what you need to achieve the next one. Don't be afraid to really get into the Ranks and the structure of ConFed, that's what it's there for.
I don't want to give a start date for Ship Wars, however it's safe to say that the Format for Ship Wars has been created (tweaks will be "as needed"). So the prep work is essentially done. The main thing preventing Ship Wars from launching is the lack of active Captains and the lack of an Admiral Fleet 2. I expect these positions to fill as we continue to push Recruiting and Events. We have a ton of active Officers who will all make great Captains when their time is right.
If you're interested in a UMC Rank change, please visit our Forums and apply for the Officer Training Program! This will help kick start your officer career in ConFed.
As mentioned previously, GiggleSmirk is the new Fleet Admiral. Please give him your best Salute! ----- Keepers
Our competitive side the "Keepers" are still very active as players, however there are many changes that need to happen with the Keepers Branch in order for it to function properly.
The big issue right now is there are no scheduled practices and there are no scheduled Clan Wars. Keepers are also are rarely involved with the other 90% of the Clan and it's activities. ConFed has this huge roster of Diamond/Master players in which nothing is happening with them. Not to mention none of the Keeper Academy is being utilized or updated. I would like to help turn this around as soon as possible. Once CTL is done, StarTaledBob will be assisting with Clan War scheduling.
In Clark's vision, Keepers are like the Knights of Camelot. It is important that they are as honorable and dedicated ConFed members in channel as they are good fighters in games. Keepers know the laws, help out in general ConFed matters, occasionally even watching the channel or playing a practice game with lower skilled members. Keepers are not just members that play all the time and are really good. Far from it.
As mentioned in the High Command section of this post, we are looking for a Foreign Advisor who will be in charge of scheduling Clan Wars and dealing with all of the fine details it entails. This way all the Keepers will need to worry about is practicing, having fun, and showing up on time to represent ConFed in the heat of battle!
What set's ConFed's competitive side a part from other communities, is that ConFed becomes your home. It feels like home from the minute you join. The current roster of Keepers can all agree on that. So when you compare ConFed's competitive side to another Teams competitive side, we offer something unique, something special. When you play for ConFed, you know you're really going to be a part of something and have fun.
At the end of the day I want to provide a competitive, friendly, and fun atmosphere for the Keeper side of ConFed. But I want this to be unique. The Keepers should play along side each other like brothers in arms. Operate together like one. These are the Keepers of The Confederation we're talking about.
If any of the current Keepers would like to help or give feedback that would be greatly appreciated.
Keep an eye out on ConFed news for more information soon regarding the Keepers! ----- Events
Take a look at these upcoming Events!
1) ConFed vs L0B 2 Platinum 2 Diamond Clan War - Saturday 12/13/14 at 7:00pm EST 2) Arcade Night - Monday 12/15/14 at 8:00pm EST 3) Training Night - Thursday 12/18/14 at 8:30pm EST 4) 1v1 Open Clan Tournament - Friday 12/19/14 at 7:00pm EST
Our Events Page is updated every Friday. So be sure to check in to see what's going on a week ahead of time! ----- Misc.
1) TeamSpeak - Ever wonder why there are so many people in Community chat but it's quiet? That's because the majority of communication occurs over TeamSpeak! The Confederation has a very active TeamSpeak server with users on around the clock. Please be aware that discussions on TeamSpeak may be better suited for a mature audience. TeamSpeak is where the fun is at. What happens on TeamSpeak stays on TeamSpeak
IP: confederation.typefrag.com Pass: a1a3a1
2) Recruiting - Officers and Confederation members need to be advertising our Clan/Community Channel to all players. If you play a good game with someone it only takes a moment of your time to message them after the game and say the following "Hey, thanks for the GG! Come check out group: "ConFed Community" Really fun place, lots of good manner members."
It's that easy. Take 1 minute of your time to advertise our Clan/Community. Getting more people into our Community chat will result in more recruits.
A big part of recruiting is good presentation as well. If you're online gaming, come into our Community chat and hangout! A nice big full Community chat full of players playing games and enjoying each others company makes ConFed look like a paradise to new and old SC2 players.
3) Forums - Ah yes, the Forums! We have those and you have the ability to post on them. The Forums are a great way to be involved with the Clan outside of SC2.
4) Awards - As mentioned in the High Command section of this post, the Awards system was revamped. Check out the new Awards page here.
5) Bad Manner - If you ever run across a bad manner incident be sure to take appropriate screen shots and report to your Branch Commander or High Command. ----- Conclusion
In my opinion ConFed is in a very healthy position moving into the winter months. Events, Recruiting, having fun, and keeping committed to our high standards is what will drive us into next year. Thank you. No really thank you, to all of you for everything. Let's keep playing the game we love!
Additionally, The Confederation runs on donations. All Website expenses, TeamSpeak expenses, Tournament Prizes, etc all come from donations. We are a non profit organization. Any funds donated are strictly for Clan use. If you'd like to donate you can click "Donate" on the front of our website, or you can just click here: Donate
If you have any questions, feedback, concerns, etc, please don't hesitate to reply or ask.

| i like the post ! and very much of it is true, however i disagree with the keepers, the keepers side of the clan is very much so dead, it doesnt exist to say the least which is unfortunate to the more competitive players of the clan.

| I personally havn't been on top of recruiting, so I'll have to step it back up. However, may I please say that it's not necessary for anyone to sign up for the gold league and below tournament, as I'll be winning it.

| Nazty we all know that you will not win that. Also Android i do agree about the keepers. It is something that we did NOT work on and expand. We are going to have to fight very very hard to make a name in competitive StarCraft 2.
Life isn't about winning the race... It is about finishing the race, and how many people we can help finish the race.

| Androide,
We have active Keepers. In fact, every single one of the Keepers is active and playing games regularly. Check their match history, or check the auto rosters page. They all have games played this week and this month. The Keepers are always online and grouped up in TeamSpeak all the time. When I say the Keepers are alive, I mean they are active.
However, their structure, organization, and purpose as a competitive team is not present. A little elbow grease will help clean things up and get things moving again.
All I can ask for is the current Keepers co-operation and willingness to make this work!

| with that being said crunchy, everyone is a keeper then , everyone who plays a game or two on sc2 a day is a keeper, but thats not what being a keeper is about, a KEEPER should be helping people reguarly, participating in clan wars, representing the confederation for what it is, strength , pride, unity, what are they doing now ? playing a few games here and there, talking on TS about random crap, being active, while being labelled a *keeper* does not make the keepers aspect of the clan active, until there is proper structure in the keepers section which honestly at this current time i think BoB is the only person who can step up to that role due to his huge role in CTL, until something is done to form a more coherent group of badass' who actually do more than a few ladder games and argue stupid crap in the keepers section of TS, unfortunately the keepers section of CONFED is dead, and its going to require a lot more than a lil elbow grease, as time has went on i can see as well as feel the passion and pride of the keepers diminishing to the point where it caused me to leave confeds competitive roster as well as probably retro and im sure a few others in the future unfortunately , i love confed to bits however as of right now competitive players dont have a role in the clan if they want to get better and im sure the *keepers* can agree with me there

| Hello,
It is with great pleasure to announce to all of you that our Keeper Branch and ConFed Gaming are fully functional and running again.
Over the course of the past 2 Weeks we have revamped our Keeper Roster, changed the requirements to get into the Keepers, and we scraped the Keeper Academy. We've also reinstated the "spirit" behind Keepers and have established what the Team's purpose is at a competitive standpoint.
Check out the new ConFed Gaming page here: http://the-confederation.net/index/confed_gaming/0-98

| Hi everyone, I am loving this clan and looking to maybe get more involved in the future. I do have to say that the leadership is really great, ZZZ and Crunchy and GiggleSmirk as well as many others have always taken the time to answer any question that comes up. (LingKing as well) I look forward to moving through the ranks and hopefully getting to the point of trying the really competitive side of things. Great people, Great Clan and Great environment.
