Vanguard Crew,

Upon reaching 96-98 members, I will be vetting a crew member to be my 2nd hand and help manage the Vanguard. What can you expect to do/ be able to do? Let's see:

- Opportunity to become an officer. I haven't decided whether or not this position will be an official officer position, but nonetheless, when considering new officers, being my 2nd hand will show that you're dependable and got what it takes to have a role to play involving responsibility.

- Power - MY POWER!!! Yes, you will have the power to help build ConFed's largest division. You will be able to execute ideas, work with captains and other officers to help them build their squads, and have a chance to be a representative of ConFed's leadership.

- Responsibility - You will be responsible for acting as a 3rd eye for me. Getting to know members, their ranks, their skill level, and their personality will be one of your main goals. This is a position for social butterflies. I need to know who's who in order to recommend them for the best possible squad. Although the choice is ultimately up to the member and the captain, recommendation from the Vanguard rarely goes ignored. I crunch numbers, form statistics, and closely keep my eye on each squad in order to see what they need and who will be best fit to be an addition to that squad.

- Leadership experience - You will gain experience in leadership. You will understand how much work goes behind the scenes managing a clan of this size. In addition, you will learn and realize what is needed to provide the officers and leaders of the clan with what they need. The Vanguard is the Drydock. Therefore, we deal with members that are inactive or lack a position/role in the clan. Our job is to inspire and motivate them members to be more active and become more involved in the clan. You must be social, approachable, and have the right touch of confidence without being pushy. After all, it's up to captains + members to fulfill duties - we simply mediate and make reccommendations.

- Duties - Your duties are to manage the inactive members. Keeping track of members who haven't logged into the website or played a game within 30 days is your main priority. Finding members on the [xCFx] tag, and re-blobbing them onto the [ConFed] tag is also a responsibility often overlooked. Your duties are to get to know each member, assess their skills and values, and help provide a role for them within ConFed. We are like counselors, and you must have a good knowledge of ConFed policy, laws, and leaders in order to fulfill your duty well. Explaining to new members of the potential to become an officer, participate in events, and answering their questions is also important, because all new members come directly to the Vanguard, so you will have to be able to explain the clan to them in a way that doesn't overwhelm or confuse them. I've had difficulty with this in the past, but we're still improving the way we do this.

- Standing Out - as my 2nd hand, you will stand out. You will be distinguished, as when members think, "THATS the guy Telos chose?" you will appear to be magnificent. You will glitter and shine in every way, as being chosen by me is akin to God giving you the wings of an angel. You will be glorious, and there will be no situation you can't handle. You will be able to help any member in any situation, and you will do it all representing the leadership in the Vanguard. Others who contest you will tremble in your wake, and yet any member who needs help will be compelled to depend on you, for you are the chosen one, and your ability to aid those in need will be impeccable.

On a serious note, I need a 2nd hand, not because work is piling up, but I am simply creating a role to fulfill so that if I'm ever not here, Vanguard has a backup. Being my 2nd hand may give you a chance to become a Lt, but I haven't decided what rank I'm even allowed to promote you to, and/or if Jdman or HC will approve of this, but I do urge giving me the opportunity to make this possible. As our clan expands, positions open up, and roles become created, and I will need someone to trust to help the clan out if I'm ever not around. Also, if I ever were to be promoted, I will need someone to fill my shoes. I've turned down some opportunities to remain in the Vanguard, because it's where I can best contribute to the clan. I want the next Captain of the Vanguard to be just as good as I am, so having this position will be your first step in becoming that Captain.

All the other squads choose 2nd Lts to help them manage their crew. The Vanguard is the largest division in the clan, so I want to have someone who can help me manage it, and in return, you will gain experience and understand what it's like to manage a group of individual and tend to their needs. It may sound corny, but this is good life experience. The skills you acquire leading in a clan will surely help you down the road in your career, because it'll teach you core values like patience and accommodation. Lastly, it would be nice to have someone tell me what I missed rather than bothering HC about it. Your job at the very minimum would be to be active and just fill me in if I'm not there for a day or even a week. I take periodic breaks from SC due to getting burnt out, and it'd be nice to have someone fill me in when I come back.

In conclusion, I just need someone who's active and dedicated. You really won't be doing much, but I will rely on your input when making decisions. It'd be nice to share them decisions so I can also learn how to work with others rather than making these decisions alone. I want someone to pass these values down to, and most importantly, I want to make sure the Vanguard has a stable leader in case I am ever offered a position that I must accept.
