| Hey guys!
I work as a CSM (Customer Service Manager) for a grocery store. I deal with everyone's problems. I handle refunds, western union, lottery. I have to fix any problems or handle any issues the cashiers have etc. So basically I deal with and fix all the bullshit all day.
What do you do?!

| Quote Inflamary ( ) @ executor, your a Receptionist... lol... no, I am not.
I am a knowledge specialist for Mutual Funds, if you want a "title". I know the ins and outs of a number of funds, fee structures, management styles, portfolio structure, fund manager(s) and I also am responsible for account level changes for investors, per instructions from a Dealer Representative's office.
We have a receptionist in our building, and she unfortunately does not have the kind of training we get which is 6-8 weeks of training on Mutual Funds, Segregated funds, and government-sanctioned investment vehicles geared towards retirement savings, Tax free savings, education, pensions, Trusts, and so on.
We also have limited training on Estates, because we sometimes have to deal with accounts for clients that have passed away and a surviving spouse is calling in to find out what to do, but we do have a dedicated Estates team that deal with more of the legal stuff involved in settling a client's estate, from a fund company's perspective, especially due to the high liability risk involved in these situations if the settlement is done incorrectly.
There is quite a lot more involved than just receiving calls, and no, Kool, this is not an operator job where we're re-directing calls, and I am not working for a bank either.
I just wanted to clarify that; it is a lot more specialized and it requires some financial training to be able to master it. My manager told me the learning curve is about 1 year's worth of on the job learning aside from the 6 weeks initial training you receive; I totally believe that since I have worked in such companies for about 6 years now, and it did take me about 1 year to really understand the ins-and-outs of how the job works, and how to handle calls from Financial Advisors who are talking to you about Fund Performance, and how the financial markets affect them, plus tax implications, federal/provincial legislation, fund structure/fee structure, management style factors. You have to be able to know this, and be abreast of the financial industry goings-on to be able to talk to these financial-savvy people.
I hope this gives you a bit more detail on what my job entails.
Now, you shall feel the power of the Protoss...

How many times do I need to tell you: this is NOT EVEN CLOSE to a receptionist position.
And you being Australian has nothing to do with it. I have Aussie friends who are smart enough to understand something this simple.
Not cool dude.

| can we not argue over what xecutor's job is? I honestly don't like to see anybody fighting, especially over a name of a job. Is it kind? Is it true? IS IT NECESSARY? If the answer to any of that is no from either one of you, then don't argue. Inflamary as ironic as it sounds you seem to want to light a flame up under people's butts. You continue posting where not needed. You could not of posted receptionist in the first place, and everything would've bene fine and dandy. You are just tossing water on a grease fire.

| mad interesting in hearing about you guys' careers!
I'm a landscaper, and I've been cuttin grass ever since I was 7 years old, but I ended up getting out of that business and going into computers. I'm A+/Net+/MCITP certified and had a 80 hour internship at Spencer's Corporate office in Absecon, New Jersey.
After that, I went to college to study Biology while working in Ocean City, NJ at a seafood restaurant making salads...and now I'm unemployed and looking for work while playing lots of SC2
