| Greetings!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been very busy w/ schoolwork and work--but that's beside the point.
Like most of you, I'm really stoked about Legacy Of the Void coming out on Nov. 10th. However, I need a new computer to run it.
I'm looking for a solid rig anywhere between $600-750, if you guys could list the best parts for the price in this thread, that'd be freaking awesome.
Once Legacy comes out, I'll definitely be playing it all day and night (maybe )

| Well Im not sure how its priced in the US but I went for a bang-for-your-bnuck amd build that has been running awesome for the last year and a half.
AMD FX 8350 8-core processor (I've forgotten which motherboard, some kind of Gigabyte one) Originally I had 8gb ram but I upgraded to 16gb b ecause it was cheap. AMD r9 270x graphics card Cooler master Hyper 212 evo heatsink + fan NZXT H440 red+black tower
Then I just put some hdds I had lying around in it, you can always add more later. Use your old Monitor, keyboard and mouse for now as well to save some cash.
Im running 3 monitors now on this build and it runs games maxed out fine. I am not running at 4k though so I don't know how the build handles that but not many people are.
I think it was around AUS$1400 a year and a half ago with a set of wireless headphones so it should have dropped and usually things are double the cost in Australia as they are in the US so it should meet your budget.

| Thx a lot man.
I might actually use a 250GB SSD instead of an HDD, but I'm sure it wouldn't make too much of a difference.
I get paid bi-weekly so I should have enough to build this thing by the time Legacy comes out

| Oh yeh when I said hdd I meant whatever, a ssd with windows on is the way to go, also put sc2 on it so it loads faster then a normal hdd for the rest of your files.
See how you go with pricing on soemthing like that though, some people will argue Intel vs AMD till the cows come home but there is no denying that AMD is great value for money and I have never had any issues.
Remember to keep all your receipts somewhere nearby as computer parts can fail and you usually get 12-24 months warranty on parts.

About that...
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare....30.html
Intel barely even plays in the super-budget market but its still a better deal with intel at the 180$ cpu price point for gaming. One could argue the amd is a better *workstation* chip at this level.
Above this price point AMD's performance lags behind a *lot*. They try to make up for it with core counts and stock clocks and damn the electric bill but they are at a more than 50% IPC disadvantage.
I leave it as an exercise to the reader to compare a top of the line (for AMD) FX-9590 vs a not top of the line 4690K both at an identical $240. Its not good.
With Kaby Lake pushed out to late 2017 and still being on the same 14nm process Broadwell and Skylake are on, AMD has a chance to catch up if they can bring something to market before 2018. Intel is betting that they can't and they don't need to increase performance significantly to remain dominant hence what has happened since sandy bridge.
AMD lost 180million last quarter, down 17% YoY and they have been steadily losing market share for 10 years now with about 50% in 2006 and only 20% now. It is unclear if they can keep losing money every quarter, afford the investment required to catch up and still manage to stay in business that long.
I really really really hope AMD can pull a rabbit out of their hat and deliver something competitive. Not because I want to buy that chip (if its worth replacing a 3770K maybe!) but because I want to see Intel try again.
Go Go EUV at 7nm!

What are you running right now? If we can salvage some parts like cases, power supplies, drives and/or peripherals that is going to help a lot.
Always use pcparkpicker to model your build before you buy anything. http://pcpartpicker.com/guide/xfmPxr/i5-4460-gtx-960-gaming-pc is a good place to start. If you could say salvage a case and a hard drive that would be right in your price range.
For a build at this level, cpu price point 190$ (the amd is $200 but hey close enough)
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare....60.html
The Intel chip is 37% faster in a single thread. This is the number that matters to you as a gamer! For sure don't buy AMD here.
We also need to know the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor to pick a video card properly. If you can dig any extra change out of the couch cushions that is where you want to spend it. The card listed in that build is a very cheap $200 960 w/ 2G of video ram. This is going to choke pretty hard at higher resolutions. Another $100 to get you into a 970 w/ 4G video ram is going to be very worth it.

| I honestly didn't read the posts by Remo, but this is pretty solid, for the top end of your range.
https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.aspx?ID=28641946
It may take a little bit for it to show up; in case it does, here are the items:
Cooler Master HAF 912 Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2976-KR 4GB Refurbished: EVGA 100-W1-0430-RX 430W CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 GIGABYTE GA-H81M-S1 (rev. 2.1) LGA 1150 Intel H81 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i5-4590 Haswell Quad-Core 3.3 GHz LGA 1150 84W
$736.93 ($20 in rebait cards to mail in, for additional discounts on case and vga)
Two items are refurbished, which I have zero qualms with, but some may. The general consensus at your price point would be to buy used items, but that may be hard for you to do, with little knowledge of what you're actually buying, assuming. If you want to lower the cost more, you could save $70+/- and step down the vga to a Radeon R9 380.

| Just get a computer science friend, they always seem to have extra parts lying around. Or at least my friends do. The only catch is that you cant ask questions.

| If you want to save money on parts go to /r/hardwareswap and buy used stuff for cheap. That way you can make a even better build than if you buy new.

| Thanks for the well thought-out answers guys! I'll definitely take all of them into account when searching for parts.
