The StarFleet StarLeague is a weekly tournament with points that operates in a season ending with finals, much like WCS except only among ConFed. I think having a weekly tournament will be great for the clan in several different ways. The StarFleet tournaments were always a hit and with the StarLeague addition (without any more work from the players) will make it even better. I will lay out everything from playing in the tournament to what happens behind the scenes. To make sure the event would run smoothly, there should be a dry run to see how everything works together in action to work out the kinks and officially start in LotV. I will show the information on the tournament in the following format. They were written down as I thought about them so it is not my best organization but who knows maybe it will flow better. If anyone one has any questions or needs clarification please post a response.

Schedule
-10 Weeks
-Games on Tuesday or Wednesday
-Posted on bnet

The season will be 10 weeks. 8 weeks of regulation, 1 week break (team or fun tournament), and one week for finals. I think I time towards the middle of the week would be best because there are already a lot of events on the weekends, and I travel during most weekends, so it would be harder for myself to manage. The schedule will be posted on bnet, but consistency should help with attendance as well.

Points
-1st 1000
-2nd 750
-RO4 600
-RO8 400
-RO16 250
-Penalty points
-Ties

This is something that there has been a lot of thought put into, however I do believe that this is one of the parts of the tournament that will benefit the most of a dry run. There needs to be a balance of making sure that every game during the season feels like it matters with doing well giving players an advantage when it comes to rankings for finals.

Penalties are not something that are planned to be a major part but are not something that I think should blindside players. Penalties will be accessed for something that damages the tournament integrity. They wouldn't be season ending (unless there is like a illegal gambling ring) but something that would pull players out of a tie braking situation. IE -50 for not showing up to a tournament. I do not expect any problems but it's better to be planned in advanced

I have not worked out a tie breaker as I do not know how common they would be. The plan right now would be to have a match in that 9th week

Tournament Structure
-Above RO16: BO1
-RO16: BO3
-RO8: BO3
-RO4: BO3
-Finals BO5
-Single Elimination

The tournament will take place in one night and should be late enough that west coasters can get involved, so sometime later than 8pm. Of course no one likes BO1 so all where you can win points will be BO3 with the finals being BO5. Every round before the round of 16 will be a BO1 because of time constraints.

I am not entirely sure how to deal with uneven registration. The two options I am playing around with is, having it be first come first serve and just holding them incase others don't show up and fill them up by their queue or start filling up the next round of the tournament with the people who signed up after it was filled.

Seeding will be randomized until the finals in which they will be seeded in point rank as that is the point of the tournament. Do note the random seeding will not put people who signed up early into the incomplete round of the bracket.

Playing in the Tournament
-Simple
-Simple
-Simple

I'll be the first to admit that my other ventures have not been successful mainly do to complexity on the participants end. That is why or this event all the players would have to do is what they would do for a standard tournament. Find match ups, pick maps, and report results. Everything else would be taken care of by the tournament admin.

Maps
-Current 1v1 ladder season maps
-Loser pick will be easier then veto system

I think the 1v1 ladder maps is a pretty easy choice. I would like the StarLeague seasons to coincide with the ladder season, but if it changes mid season it may be best to let the players decide. There many different ways to choose maps. I would prefer that veto system that the pros use (if they still do) but that may be to hard to facilitate, so losers choice my prevail do to simplicity

Casting
-Nothing Planned

Until the tournament is running 100% smoothly, I am not going to focus on casting or vods, if they are done independently of the tournament that is one thing, but I think taking this one small step at a time is the best.

Restrictions
-No League Restriction
-Must be private in the clan

ConFed has quite the large masters and diamond pool nowadays and this could be an event for the Keepers to strut their stuff. Also you can’t find the best player in the clan if not everyone can play

Have them be in the clan for a week or be a private or something just to keep people from dining and dashing. You wouldn’t need to play every wait but play once tournament and leave the clan defeats the purpose of a season

Braket
-Create new account on any bracket website for anyone to run
-Appears on the front page as tournament is in full swing
-Results are given to admin to be posted on site

The StarLeague should have its own personal account for multiple people to use. This will be generated by a sign up sheet which is explained below

I am unsure of any background implications of changing the site. I know it was displayed on the website, if anything Im sure Remo knows about everything to do with the website. Also I want the front of the website to be utilized more and I think posting the results there and the bracket would bring more life to the page. There will also be a forum with more in-depth info that it could link too.

Sign ups
-Google form
-hopefully on front page
-start on Friday

Sign ups would be a short and sweet google form:
———————————————
SC2 Name

Character Code

Current 1v1 League Ranking

I am aware of the time and date of the tournament and will be ready to play the first match by the time of the start of tournament and understand that points will be deducted if I fail to do so.
———————————————

I would hopefully like to get this on the front page as one of the buttons on the right hand.
They would start on Friday so when people are playing for the weekend they will be able to sign up. Friday provides a small break to organize and is still enough time for people to get on and sign up and close enough where people will know their schedules.

Results
-posted on front page
-forum post

I would like to go back to putting the tournament results on the front page, while at the same time keeping up more in depth information on a forum page where there can be continued discussion.

Record Keeping
-tracking points, ranks
-google sheet

I am also trying to keep the back end work load down to a minimum. I have built a simple spreadsheet for the information to be entered into and it generates rankings. Using google sheets would allow multiple people to access the sheet just incase I am not available.

Im just throwing ideas into this post as i read yours. organization is no longer key at 1:19 AM.

1. I definitely think that it should be first come first serve, reason being that every time i have hosted a tournament in this clan, there have been at least 5 people who dont show. and you cant say "oh they forgot" because the majority of them had committed to it only hours earlier. so to avoid the confusion of filling spots and not wanting to start until everyone arrives, when they probably wont, it should be based on who is there at the time

Here is a link to the more official cleaned up version if anyone is interested. Hopefully the link opens up to more people than just me.
