When Crunchy told me we had over 50 members unaccounted for, I was shocked. Though, I am responsible for the UMC, I'd like to have more participation from other Officers when it comes to stuff like this. I shouldn't have to remind you all how much I complain about this kind of stuff, but I don't mean it as a complaint; I simply would like us to work together in a better way to accomplish these things, including ideas; think of it like an assembly line of positive production and brainstorming; working together as one body -- The United Military Command

If you'd like to know how to be more efficient in Officer duties, or how to think like a leader, consider the following tips:

To make sure you can do this quickly/orderly/the right way, please keep the following in mind:

-Become familiar with the ROSTER page. ALL members, and ALL ranks. Look it over every chance you get. Click profiles, look up registration dates, ranks, races, and member info. This will make it easier to make decisions when it comes time to consider someone for a promotion, and keep a mental progress report.

- Be aware of members posting IA on the forums, so they don't get mixed in the wrong categories. Read all forum posts, even if you think they don't relate to you or are boring. Forum threads contain the most important information in our clan. REMEMBER -- We can't always discuss important matters on TeamSpeak or in Community Chat, so the Forum is the best place to find accurate and distinct information about clan affairs.

- Work with your superior and inferior Officers, as all duties should propagate from the highest ranks down. Find a subordinate to help with your responsibilities. Make friends; ask Privates if you have to; give them things to do or at least think about. Part of being an Officer is to increase your leadership skills so that you can give others a chance to lead as you continue to climb.

i.e/ Crunchy has a task for me. I in return ask Gigglesmirk to help. Gigglesmirk in return asks Captains to help him, and all tasks should be reported to the superior officer directly above you. This will help duties be complete in a more orderly fashion, and also help propagate the responsibilities of each of us as Officers in the UMC. This will make it so the Fleet Admiral doesn't have to deal with everyone's issues, and the Captains don't get stuck dealing with all of the problems from Drydock.

- Go above and beyond your responsibilities, not for praise, promotions, or rewards, but because you want to prove to your superior officer that you're dependable, and worthy of being in the position that you earned. Achieving a rank is great! But holding onto it is the challenge of your purpose within ConFed. Do it so our clan can flourish and grow, and maybe we can create more purposes and events in the clan to heighten our experience here for everyone!

- Members in the past (BW Era (ConFed) ) had to do WAY MUCH MORE to be given the ranks that some of you have today, so consider your officer position a reflection of what ConFed members in ancient days had to do to create structure for the position you're in now. All the laws, rules, academy info, ranks -- everything started from somewhere, right? Make the Legends, Elders, and your ConFed leaders proud of you -- and also everyone else who wears the tag.

This is not a scolding, and I'm not complaining; nor am I giving any kind of lecture of orders. This is just a post to inspire some of you that we TRULY depend on you. We don't depend on having a list of names under a rank title OFFICER; we depend on the skills you may offer us, and the duties performed will be rewarded in time; whether through promotion, praise, medals, or rewards of other kinds.

Fleet Admiral Crunchy and I are trying to consolidate the purpose of each member and share duties evenly and fairly among officers. Without an organized chain of command, the things we do would be so much more chaotic. Though it may sound a bit too ideal for some of you, I want you to know that this is meant to inspire and give direction towards thinking how a leader thinks. We appreciate everything you do, and this is just a reminder to inspire you that now is the time to shine~!

Sincerely With Love,

Admiral Telos <3

This would be great! if every member wanted to participate in the roleplaying aspect of confed, not every member wants to though and that leaves us with a problem, What do we do if they dont wanna go past private? ban them? what happens if they only want to game? ignore them cos they dont know our ranks and dont give a damn? some people only want to game, remember this

Inflamary,

To my understanding, he was referring to officers. I agree that most members of ConFed would like to be just members and be a part of a community ( most don't bother looking at the forums or website, either ). However, officers in general are the members who wished to take on more responsibility and/or showed desire.

Yes, I was referring to people who WANT to become leaders. Members of the Drydock aren't required to do anything. However, any rank can issue orders to any rank below them, so technically, Privates must obey ConFed law. It's just not cool to force a Private or non-Officer to do things.

This post was to encourage people and show some tips on how to think when considering being a leader.
