| The Zerg Spine Crawler Rush is a build which can only be used in a Zerg vs Zerg matchup. This is an all in build but if used correctly can be effective against a lot of players who don’t know how to defend against it.
This build is designed to be used against Zerg players who focus on building their economy early game and go 13 pools or early 15 Hatchery expansion. The reason why you use this build against these type of players is that they are working more on building up their economy rather than getting an early spawning pool and won’t have Zerglings in time to defend against the rush.
This build is an all in build, but if used against economy driven Zerg players it can lead to easy wins, but if it fails than you are as good as dead.
Build Order
8/10 -> Build a Spawning Pool
7/10 -> Build a Drone
8/10 -> Build a Drone & send a Drone to scout your opponent
9/10 -> Build and Overlord
9/18 -> Produce 6 Zerglings (continue making Zerglings)
-> When the Zerglings are half way complete send a second drone to your opponents base
-> Continue production of Zerglings and rally them to your opponents base
Execution
Once your first set of 6 Zerglings are about to arrive at your opponents base toss down two Spine Crawlers right next to each other. You want to put them away from their mineral line and workers but in range of the Hatchery.
Your Opponent will than use his workers and Zerlings of his own to try to attack your Spine Crawlers and this is when you use your Zerglings to engage. The key to this is only attack with your Zerglings when your opponent engages your Spine Crawlers, you do not want to engage with just your units. If he turns around and stops attacking your Spine Crawlers than pull your forces back and wait till he engages again.
Continue the production of Zerlings to defend your Spine Crawlers as they destroy the Hatchery.
This build is usually best used on small 4 player maps because most Zerg players feel comfortable fast expanding or building up their economy first on 4 player maps compared to 2 player maps.

| I was sure to see a thread about this against protoss!
To me there is still viable approaches against protoss and just as cheesey. It doesn't actually rely on defending but being the aggressor (my build)
However, you can believe me that it works and I am prepared to tell you how to it goes. However, my build isn't as finely tuned right now, but please bare with me. It is quite the same but appears to be normal.
I find cheeses that appear normal but come out strong to surprise your opponent is the style I like to play.
I will give a layout of the build when I am not feeling so groggy. its like this, 13 pool then at almost 15 drones (before they hatch) you want to scout with a probe. If it is a 4 player map, you want to scout before the pool is laid down. (around 12 drones) if you find your opponent at X side of the map. You want to build a hatchery outside of their natural. About the proximity of a Xel naga tower and off walking trails if possible. You want to be concealed away enough that a scouting probe returning just comes out of the line of sight of your hatchery. Because if they do, they can start their counter immediately! If this doesn't happen and they do not scout your hatchery. Have the following ready at your hatchery. x500 minerals in your bank xQueen at the proxy x4-5 drones ready (pulled from main) xOverlords
You want to hold off from making a queen at your main at this point when your hatchery goes down and your pool finishes. Then making a queen at your proxy hatch and drones. Then with your drones you pulled from the main, make crawlers and spore crawlers later (hold off). You want 4-5 crawlers to defend the hatchery first. If the protoss is ready to attack (which happens very rarely) your crawlers will hold off the attack and you might win the game at this point.
If that doesn't happen and your crawlers finish, wait for your queen to hatch. Put down creep tumors moving towards their choke and natural. If you have 6-7 crawlers, GREAT! more creep tumors and add spore crawlers!
You want to be making a queen at your main too. This will help with macro a little later on. You want about 15 drones mining minerals and no gas. You can get gas at this point!
OKAY! Soldier, move your crawlers to the front of their door with crawlers! keep those creep tumors alive and away from any attacks, keep them between crawlers! make another queen at your proxy hatchery. Have overlords ready!
Then if their wall starts to break! start creeping their choke and hope to hell you got a chance to move onto of their ramp past the choke. If their MSC is near by, have spore crawlers ready to shoot it down and queens too. mass zerglings! and try to crush down their choke next! this is a very had strategy to execute but if you manage to creep up their ramp!, you want to have sufficient space to put down 3-4 crawlers on their.
Once you get close to their ramp you want to keep note of the timing of the game. They can either have dark templars or void rays! This is where it gets very complex because you want to win the game and shut down your opponent!
If you fail to get ontop of their ramp and you find yourself behind in the game. You lost because they can hit your main so easily .
If you succeed on getting past their choke and onto their main.
Try to secure your main base as a side-priority!
hammer down the crawlers and zerglings down their throat and kill all the buildings.
good game and hope you enjoyed my narrative of my version of the Zerg Spine Crawler Rush!
I said I'd be around sooner or later. However, might I say have fun in your future too.
