| I'm currently not a fan of Mutas being a must in a majority of ZvZ. Here is a video of Scarlett Vs Revival match 2 in WCS America Ro16. I find mass roach annoying but powerful and Scarlett did a great job of not only sniping hatcheries but annihilating his army. Granted she knew he wasn't going Muta because of his play style but still impressive.

| Was this before or after the buff to spore bio attacks? Since then I absolutely agree to the fullest extent.

| Since reading this and watching the video I've been tinkering around with a higher volume of roach in my roach/hydra and while I definitely know I don't have the strat down perfectly it's already served as very annoying for foe at least in my leagues. Targeting down hatcheries with 3/3 roach ball is a joke and has to be a nightmare for anyone stuck flying mutas all the way across the map home to defend.. I still feel like its viability all starts with how deadly spores are vs bio to defend against the muta but hey what do I know in Gold league haha

| I think an idea to keep is you can maybe complety INGONE going for mutas. get fast speed and lings, take a 3rd and drone like a mofo till sat. keep overlords safe, get tons of spores, and then hope he goes for armor upgrades for mutas. Save up larva and lings, get 1/1 then 2/2 for range, bane speed, roach speed, then make around 35 roaches at once and then morph alot of lings to banelings. Sounds good on paper but I never tried it yet. Hit him with reinforcing roaches. GL.
You wish you knew what I was doing Trust me... You don't wanna know...

| I think going for fast mutas, making 6-8, and hoping for an overreaction while you transition to pure roach is a SUPER interesting way to play ZvZ, thoughts?

| I'm a huge fan of Roach hydra in ZvZ. Muta gets boring after a while.

| Quote tenshender ( ) I'm currently not a fan of Mutas being a must in a majority of ZvZ.
I have found the muta is falling out of favor in a big way. You can mass roaches, walk into their base, do massive damage while their 6-8 mutas are trying to kill them roachs.
Going into the mid game a massive roach with +1+1 will beat a mid roach army with +1+1 and some fast mutas any day of the week. The trick is, as the player without Mutas, don't shy away. Run those bad boys in and take out a hatch.. or two.
doing a medium muta switch after mid game has been going on for a while is a great way to get some solid econ damage in. But you have to be ready to play D with your roach army and some spines back home. If you fly into their base with 10-15 muta (and they are not ready) they may go for a base trade. Can be a bit intense but with defender advantage and some spines you can do it.

| Yeah, mass muta is rarely seen anymore. Its always roach v roach for good reason, as stated above however, make sure to react if he goes hydras or infestors, and get those of your own.
