Zergling and baneling play is very common in a zvz game, any tips on how to micro better? One big bane detonation usually can win the game.

In zvz, the "ling wars" are a big part of the early game. Always try to trade in your favor. For example, if your opponent is not paying attention to his army, send a single ling into a baneling to detonate it. Make sure that you dont give 10 lings away to one baneling. If you see banelings chasing after you, run ahead with your lings, and send one back to detonate one, and keep doing this until there are none left. Honestly, this phase of zvz is the most micro intensive, so you will get better with practice.

It helps to keep your zerglings and banelings in separate control groups.

Expanding a bit on what Shuriken and Mezzo said, the early game and ling bane micro is really important to learn how to do effectively.

A few things to keep in mind:

2 banelings is enough to kill an entire group of banelings, so when splitting them up, do so in groups of 2, it will ensure equal trading, even if you mess up.

When you go up a ramp, always send 1 ling up first, if being aggressive, and try to attack a baneling, a lot of the time they are not paying attention and will lose 1 bane to 1 ling. This is a SUPER awesome trade for you if you get it off

Try doing ling bane all ins, and microing very well. Back in WoL I did 14 gas 14 pool zergling baneling all in every ZvZ until I was incredibly comfortable microing. Once you know what's up with micro, it makes defending ling bane all ins early game REALLY easy, as you'll have the additional help of queens and spines along with your good ling bane micro

Also, if you find yourself dying to ling baneling floods alot, leave an overlord behind the opponents natural. If you see that his drone count is low, that means he is getting lings. Once you know that, morph your own banelings, and get an evo wall if you need to

If you have trouble with the ling flood, its really not a bad idea to blindly build a spine as soon as your natural hatch is built.

Also in the heat of the ling/bling battles you can always try sneaking 2-3 lings into your opponents main, morph them into banes, and get a big hit on your opponents economy.

Using ctl groups has always worked well for me. I place banes on #2 and a move with lings to soak dmg, then pull lings back and let banes do their business!

Having seperate hot keys helps so much. For example...Lings on 1, and Banes on 2.
